Overview

BuildPress is a WordPress plugin that enables AI-assisted website building. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Key principle: The BuildPress plugin runs entirely on your WordPress server. We do not process your site content, designs, or user data on our infrastructure, and BuildPress is not in the data path for AI requests — AI processing happens through your own MCP-compatible AI client or subscription.

What We Collect

Update & License Checks

The plugin contacts our servers only to check for updates and to verify your license. Those requests carry basic technical details — your plugin, WordPress, and PHP versions, your site URL, and your license key — and never your page content, user data, design tokens, memory entries, or audit logs.

Feedback You Choose to Send

If you submit feedback from inside the plugin (for example, the Share Feedback form or a deactivation survey), we receive what you typed plus limited diagnostic context — and only when you submit it. Any name or email is optional, and we never receive your raw license key this way.

Account & Purchase Information

When you create an account or buy BuildPress on usebuildpress.com, we collect what's needed to provide the Service: your account details and your order information. Payments are handled by our payment provider as merchant of record, so we never store your full payment card details.

Marketing Website

When you visit usebuildpress.com, we collect standard web analytics (page views, referrer, device type) and any contact-form submissions you send us.

What We Do NOT Collect

• Content you create with BuildPress
• Your AI conversations or prompts
• MCP tool call data or audit logs
• Project memory entries
• WordPress credentials or App Passwords
• Database contents or media files

Data Storage

All BuildPress plugin data (wp_buildpress_memory, wp_buildpress_mcp_audit_log, settings) is stored in your WordPress database on your server. We have no access to it. The account, license, and order data described above is stored on our infrastructure and with our service providers (Clerk, Lemon Squeezy, and Resend).

Third Parties

The BuildPress plugin does not sell your data and does not integrate with advertising or third-party tracking services. Apart from the update, license, and optional feedback requests described above, the plugin does not transmit your site data off your server. Your AI client receives tool responses as part of the MCP protocol; that flow is between your server and your own AI client.

For the account, purchase, and contact information we do collect on usebuildpress.com, we rely on a small set of service providers (Clerk for authentication, Lemon Squeezy for payments, and Resend for email). These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the Service and are bound by their own terms and privacy commitments.

Your Rights

GDPR (EU): You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. Contact privacy@usebuildpress.com.

CCPA (California): You have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. Contact privacy@usebuildpress.com.

Since plugin data lives on your server, you have full control through WordPress admin, WP-CLI, or phpMyAdmin.

Cookies

The BuildPress plugin does not set any cookies; it uses WordPress's existing authentication system. The usebuildpress.com website and our service providers (such as Clerk for authentication) may set cookies that are necessary to operate the site, sign you in, and complete a purchase.
