Privacy Policy

[TBD — set before launch]

Overview

BuildPress (“we”, “us”, “our”) develops WordPress plugins — BuildPress MCP and BuildPress Pro — that enable AI-assisted website building. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Key principle: BuildPress plugins run entirely on your WordPress server. We do not process your site content, designs, or user data on our infrastructure.

What We Collect

Plugin Update Checks

When your WordPress site checks for plugin updates (automatically every 12 hours, per WordPress default behavior), a request is sent to downloads.usebuildpress.com containing:

  • Your current plugin version number
  • Your WordPress version
  • Your PHP version
  • Your site URL (sent by WordPress core as part of the HTTP request)

We do not collect: page content, user data, design tokens, memory entries, audit logs, or any data stored in your WordPress database.

Marketing Website

When you visit usebuildpress.com:

  • Standard web analytics (page views, referrer, browser/device — via [analytics provider TBD])
  • Contact form submissions (name, email, message)
  • Purchase/account information if you buy BuildPress Pro

Support Communications

When you contact us for support:

  • Your name and email address
  • The content of your support request
  • Any diagnostic information you voluntarily share

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Content you create with BuildPress (pages, posts, designs)
  • Your AI conversations or prompts
  • MCP tool call data or audit logs
  • Project memory entries
  • WordPress user credentials or App Passwords
  • Database contents
  • Media library files

BuildPress plugins do not phone home, do not send telemetry, and do not transmit site data to our servers. The only external communication is the standard WordPress plugin update check.

Data Storage

Plugin Data (on YOUR server)

All BuildPress plugin data is stored in your WordPress database:

TablePurpose
wp_buildpress_memoryProject memory entries
wp_buildpress_memory_historyMemory revision history (Pro)
wp_buildpress_mcp_audit_logTool call audit log
Various wp_options entriesPlugin settings

This data lives on your server and is governed by your hosting provider's data policies. We have no access to it.

Marketing Website Data

Data collected through our marketing website is stored on [hosting provider TBD] and processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Third Parties

BuildPress plugins do not share data with third parties. The plugins do not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Your AI client (Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.) receives tool responses from your WordPress server as part of the MCP protocol. This data flow is between your server and your AI client — BuildPress does not intermediate or store this traffic.

Your Rights

Since plugin data is stored on your server, you have full control. You can:

  • View all data in your WordPress admin (Memory page, Audit Log page)
  • Delete individual entries through the admin UI
  • Drop database tables via WP-CLI or phpMyAdmin
  • Uninstall the plugin (tables are preserved by default; manual deletion required)
